Course News: Course in analyzing microarrays using J-express 2009
- This is a 3 day course where J-Express will be used as an analysis tool. This course builds on the Introduction to microarrays course, so knowledge about the microarray technology is expected.

Norwegian Consortium Assembles, Annotates Cod Genome from 454 Data
- A Norwegian consortium of researchers, in collaboration with Roche's 454 Life Sciences, has completed a high-quality annotated draft genome of the Atlantic cod, using a sequencing strategy that relied exclusively on shotgun and paired-end sequence data generated on 454's GS FLX Titanium platform.

Course News: Microarray data management and analysis workshop (Bergen, October 30th)
- Norwegian Microarray Consortium (NMC) Bergen node is arranging a series of regular workshops this autumn, roughly once a month. The next one is on Friday, October 30th. The idea is that everyone with microarray data can bring their data and get help with problems, or discuss particular topics of interest (including BASE2).

Course News: HyperBrowser Hands-On Course, Trondheim, February 11, 2009
- The FUGE Bioinformatics technology platform offers a 1 day hands-on course to the HyperBrowser technology. The course takes place in Trondheim on Wednesday February 11. The HyperBrowser is being developed at the platform node in Oslo, and the course is offered as collaboration between the platform nodes in Oslo and Trondheim. The HyperBrowser builds on the Galaxy platform for genome analysis, and makes it possible to do large scale statistical analysis of genome annotation data. The course will consist of a basic part and an advanced part. The basic part requires no previous experience with bioinformatics. The advanced part will be suitable for people with some experience from bioinformatics and/or data analysis of genome data. The full announcement can be found here .

Bioinformatics Forum for Young Scientists (BFYS) April 24-26, 2009, Trondheim/Selbu
