Interim access solution to StoreBioinfo

The StoreBioinfo project currently develops a new access infrastructure to the storage resources. Available means of access  in the meantime before the StoreBioInfo portal is ready is through Secure SHell (SSH) aware software.

Linux/Mac have tightly integrated support for transfer of files over the ssh protocols, and MS Windows based systems have several free and licensed options to choose between for ssh support. Many university IT-departments will have support for installing/providing such software.

How-to access in practice

Once one has been given a username and a password, start up an ssh-capable file browser application and use the following parameters to connect:

  • Host/hostname/server: norstore-osl-app0.uio.no
  • Username: as provided
  • Passwd: as provided
  • Port: default (22)

Your storage project in StoreBioinfo will be located under:

/norstore/project/storebioinfo/your-project-name

and it's often possible to specify this setting when connecting in many ssh-filetransfer-clients.
