Introduction to high throughput genomics, Bergen, 01. -02. December 2011
Summary
An introductory course to the field of high troughput genomics such as microarray technology and high throughput sequencing.
Description
The course last two days, where both days is focusing on high throughput genomics, such as microarray technologies and deep sequencing.
Topics covered:
- Introduction to microarrays (basic principles)
- Microarray applications (invited speakers having performed microarray studies)
- Pre-processing of microarray data
- Introduction to high throughput sequencing (basic principles)
- High throughput sequencing applications
- Experimental design of microarray/sequencing studies
The course is mostly theoretical, but with some hands on exercise on experimental design. The course will not cover data analysis, please check the Microarray Analysis course or Next-Generation Sequencing analysis course for courses in analysis of high- throughput data, offered yearly in a collaboration between the Norwegian Microarray Consortium and the FUGE Bioinformatics platform.
Since this is a course free of charge, there will be no hands-out in the lectures. All lectures will be available on the course homepage after the course.
